Ogun State Spearheads Major Infrastructural Developments

As of May 2025, Ogun State is undergoing a wave of infrastructural transformation under the
leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, with major strides in road, health, housing, and aviation
projects.

Road Infrastructure:
The state recently approved 11 new road projects across its senatorial districts, including key
routes like the Akute-Agbado Road, Iperu-Ilishan (leading to the Gateway Airport), and
Gao-Ibiade Road. In Ifo LGA, roads like Alagbole-Ajuwon and Oke-Aro are also being
constructed. Additionally, the long-awaited reconstruction of the Lagos-Sango-Abeokuta
Expressway has commenced, alongside the Sango-Ijoko Road which will be executed in two
phases.

Aviation:
The Gateway Agro-Cargo International Airport in Ilishan Remo is nearing full operation,
expected to handle both cargo and passenger flights and create over 25,000 jobs.

Healthcare & Housing:
Over 100 primary healthcare centres have been renovated, and a health insurance scheme
(“Ilera-Dero”) launched. The government has also delivered over 3,000 affordable housing units
to tackle housing needs.

Water & Agriculture:
The Arakanga waterworks have been fully restored, improving water supply to Abeokuta and
surrounding areas. More than 40,000 farmers have benefited from agricultural programs, and
over 700,000 tree seedlings have been planted to promote environmental sustainability.
These projects highlight Ogun State’s ongoing efforts to boost infrastructure and enhance
residents’ quality of life.
