Ogun State: Assembly Demands Tighter Oversight of Road Projects

Ogun State lawmakers, during today’s mid‑year budget review at the State Assembly in
Abeokuta, urged the Ministry of Works to step up monitoring of contractor-led road projects.
The call follows concerns about quality control and project delivery timelines. Legislators
requested a comprehensive breakdown of both ongoing and completed road works,
including the Abeokuta–Abule Egba corridor, to enhance oversight and safeguard public
investments.

Ogun & Lagos: Major Transmission Upgrade Triggers Daily Power Outages
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), in collaboration with distribution firms, has
initiated a 25-day maintenance operation on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330 kV line starting
July 28. Consumers across Lagos and parts of Ogun State including Abeokuta and Ogijo will
experience nine‑hour daily outages (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) through August 21. The upgrade
includes installation of OPGW fibre cables and enhancements for SCADA-based system
control to boost grid reliability.

Oyo State: Protests Erupt Over Circular Road Expansion in Ibadan
Residents in Akinyele Local Government Area protested at the State Secretariat, opposing
plans to extend the Ibadan Circular Road corridor beyond its originally approved 150 meters.
The demonstrators raised concerns about further displacement and urged policymakers to
respect the initial corridor width.
